Dear esteemed members of KASID,
Warm greetings to you all.
First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for your continued interest and dedication to the growth and advancement of our association.
The mission of KASID can be summarized in three key actions: strive, provide, and contribute. We strive to advance research in intestinal diseases, provide guidance for clinical practice, and contribute to the health of the public. This mission has only been possible thanks to the devoted leadership of our past presidents and executive members, and the steadfast support of our senior, peer, and junior members who have all embraced the spirit of "shining together."
As I begin my term as the 12th president, I would like to focus our efforts on three core goals to help KASID grow into a leading association in Asia and stand shoulder to shoulder with prominent societies around the world.
First, strengthening our research foundation (strive).
We will establish a seamless collaboration system between our research groups and committees to facilitate natural cooperation across multi-center and multinational studies. Through the system developed by the Research Support Task Force and now formalized as the Research Support Committee, we will enhance the quality of our academic and research projects and empower early-career investigators. We will also promote creative and multicenter collaborative studies.
Second, regular development of clinical guidelines (provide).
What makes AGA and ECCO guidelines competitive is their continuous updating. We, too, will establish a systematic and recurring process for developing our own guidelines. To achieve this, we will train skilled professionals, build responsible leadership teams, and create a solid foundation through structured education. Ultimately, we aim to make the KASID Guidelines the standard for clinical care in intestinal diseases.
Third, contributing to public health (contribute).
We will strengthen communication and make Intestinal Research a key channel for researchers in the field. We will also translate research findings into language that is accessible and meaningful to both members and the public. Our extensive international network will be leveraged to provide young researchers with tangible opportunities for growth. The KASID website will be continuously improved for better accessibility. Additionally, we will pay closer attention to often-overlooked aspects of clinical practice, such as healthcare policy, ethics, and insurance issues. We will actively provide opportunities for personal development to young researchers and create more avenues for senior members to share their experiences. We also plan to engage more actively with professionals from various healthcare sectors, broadening our academic horizons. Above all, we will make it a priority to express our sincere appreciation -clearly and frequently- to everyone who contributes to these endeavors.
I kindly ask for your continued support and active participation.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Sung-Ae Jung, MD, PhD
