ABOUT

At IMKASID 2016, Wonju Yonsei University Professor Hyun-soo Kim was invited to be the 1st and the 2nd International Academic Exchange Committee Chairperson and he organized a session titled "Region Specific Forum" at IMKASID 2016 and IMKASID 2018, which were held biennially at the time. Doctors in countries such as Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, and Malaysia attended the program as speakers and moderators and that program served as opportunities to begin exchanges with the researchers and societies in their countries.
From IMKASID 2019, foreign young medical scientists participated in IMKASID through GO IMKASID in addition to the Region Specific Forum sessions. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the doctors from participating countries formed the Region Specific Scientific Committee and IMOTICON (International Multi-society On-line Case Conference for Intestinal Diseases) was first launched in 2021.
As a result, IMOTICON has become an important platform to continuously interact with foreign doctors even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to IMKASID 2022, the demand of the partnership was captured with the doctors who had been interacting through the Region Specific Forum to foster continuous training and joint research, therefore RAPID (Regional Academic Partnership for Intestinal Diseases) was proposed by former president Seung-jae Myung and former director of the International Academic Exchange Committee Hyun Gun Kim.
RAPID was officially formed on January 14, 2022, when the five societies signed MOUs while holding a RAPID pre-meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam. The RAPID member society is currently in discussions with Thai doctors to sign a MOU.
