MOU for RAPID was signed in Hanoi, Vietnam on 14th January 2023, but at this time Gastroenterological Association of Thailand (GAT) was not officially joined. At IMKASID 2024, Prof. Somchai Leelakusolvong, the president of GAT and Prof. Tae Il Kim, the president of KASID signed MOU for RAPID and this made RAPID include 6 academic societies sharing research and educational activities on intestinal diseases.
After MOU, RAPID leaders meeting was held with the session titled, ‘Drawing the future of RAPID’. Speakers and participants reviewed what we did and are doing and suggested what we should do to improve the future of RAPID in this meeting.

Regional Academic Partnership for Intestinal Diseases (RAPID) was born from the needs for more well-organized partnership to improve the academic exchange among societies involved in Region Specific Forum network.
Led by the Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases (KASID) and supported by the Vietnam Association of Gastroenterology (VNAGE), memorandum of understanding for RAPID was held at 108 Military Hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam, with approximately 30 executives attending, committee members of the Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases as well as approximately 100 gastroenterologists from Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
IMKASID 2022 included RSF session and IMOTICON session. As mentioned previously, RSF session program was discussed in the first RSF scientific committee online meeting. IMOTICON case session consisted of the most interesting cases selected four times of IMOTICON which was held before IMKASID 2022.
During IMKASID 2022, the 3rd RSF scientific committee meeting was held with the topic of “Solidifying a Partnership between the KASID and the RSF Scientific Committee”. In this meeting, all speakers, and participants, including International Academic Exchange Committee (IAEC) members, confirmed that we needed more systematic and efficient educational sessions and active joint research for a more solid partnership.
In this page, you can see topics and some scenes of RSF session, IMOTICON case session and the 3rd RSF scientific committee meeting.

Region Specific Forum (RSF)
Region Specific Forum Network & Region Specific Network Scientific Committee
Region Specific Forum (RSF) network was established to organize regular online meetings of Asian national academic societies that have previously participated in Region Specific Forum to overcome the disruption of academic exchanges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to solidify networking among researchers.
While preparing IMKASID 2022, the international academic exchange committee (IAEC) of KASID have planned to construct an RSF network for participants from each country who had previously participated in RSF sessions. Researchers from the following societies in each country were invited to join RSF network: Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Five respondents and Prof. Hyun Gun Kim, the director of IAEC of KASID, have contributed to setting up the RSF network as members of RSF scientific committee. RSF network and RSF scientific committee became the starting point of the current RAPID.
The historic, first RSF scientific committee meeting was held online on 6th September 2021 and discussed RSF session program and RSF regional. At this meeting, an online platform of international case conference, so-called International Multi-society On-line Case Conference for Intestinal Diseases (IMOTICON) was planned, too. Details about IMOTICON is linked to here
The RSF session that started in this way continued as an independent session with a different theme every year until IMKASID in 2020,

In 2019, a program called GO IMKASID was introduced after the suggestion by Prof. Jeong-Sik Byeon, the 3rd director of the IAEC. GO IMKASID was a program that invited young Asian doctors to participate in IMKASID by having the opportunity to visit Korea's gastroenterology center. At that time, 34 young Asian researchers from 14 countries had the opportunity to visit 18 Korean gastroenterology centers.
RAPID starts with IMKASID, which was first held in 2016.
At the suggestion of Prof. Hyun-soo Kim, who was the 1st and the 2nd director of International Academic Exchange Committee (IAEC), the KASID invited speakers from six Asian countries (Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam) to hold an independent session called a 'Region Specific Forum (RSF)' to present topics on the clinical situation of intestinal diseases in each country.
